F
A Q's
Frequently
asked questions of ON-ICE magazine.
|
| |
| |
|
| |
Why
haven't I seen an issue of ON-ICE Magazine at my door
lately?
The
magazine will be published when adequate sponsorship
is obtained to cover the costs of publishing. Publishing
this high quality magazine along with postal costs is
expensive.
In
the mean time our web site is kept up to date and you
can visit the site at
On-Ice Magazine
for all the minor hockey information found in the magazine.
|
| |
|
| |
What
is the purpose of ON-ICE magazine?
The
purpose of the magazine is to get minor hockey issues
and information out to the general membership of the
minor hockey community.
|
| |
|
| |
What
is the mission or the mandate of ON-ICE magazine?
Our
mandate is to provide communication to the mass of players,
parents, coaches, referees and fans on issues that they
need and want to know about. We are not focused on the
professional ranks except to highlight their involvement
in minor hockey and to let you know about their commitment
to and involvement in the community you live in. We
want to discuss controversial issues as well as the
well worn issues and bring you information about new
product development, new materials being used by the
manufacturers and to show you some of the details of
the hockey world of which you may not be aware.
|
| |
|
| |
How
did this new magazine get started?
After
three years of writing a local hockey association newsletter
it was obvious that a larger focused magazine was needed.
Effective communication was the key and with the state
of minor hockey in Canada, it was clear that a magazine
focused on information to the masses was needed. With
the help of an associate publisher we launched ON-ICE
magazine. The creation of this magazine also addresses,
independently, 5 of the Open Ice Recommendations from
the August 1999 Open Ice summit. |
| |
|
| |
Is
there a communications gap among hockey associations?
There
is not enough information easily available out there
about minor hockey unless you go looking for it and
to do that you would have to know where to look. There's
lots out there but finding it can be a chore. Hockey
enthusiasts would know but wouldn't it be nice if that
information came to your door and you didn't have to
go hunting for it?
|
| |
|
| |
How often is ON-ICE magazine published?
We
succesfully published three issues to date and the plan
for ON-ICE magazine is to publish four times per year.
We are working hard to bring you all the minor hockey
information on our website in the mean time.
|
| |
|
| |

other NHL teams be featured besides the Flames?
The
beginning of the magazine has started in Calgary and

not be highlighted in each issue but a variety of other
NHL teams will.

your magazine? Do you have any plans to name them or
their team?
We
have not named any of the cartoon players you see in
the magazine or on the logo. At this time we just call
them the ON-ICE team. We will be looking for names for
all the characters so watch the magazine for information
on a naming contest. We will also be adding new characters

Can
the magazine present picture articles on specific teams,
end of season standings, etc.?
Since
the magazine is focusing on the national issues in minor
hockey we will not be publishing individual statistics
or team photos. However we will be covering some of
the major tournaments across the nation (Mac's Midget
Tournament, Quebec City PeeWee tournament, Stampede
Challenge League, etc.) and will feature pictures from
those tournaments.
If
there is a significant team or individual that has added
to the enjoyment, improvement or fun in the minor hockey
world we will most certainly consider writing about
them. Please let us know.
|
| |
|
| |
Can
we submit pictures for publication? And what format
should these be submitted in?
Pictures
are welcome on any minor hockey subject. You will notice
one of the background pictures in the premier issue
featured a mother helping her son to dress for the game.
So pictures on anything related to your minor hockey
experiences are welcomed.
Please submit your pictures in colour print format.
We will not be returning them to you so ensure you have
a copy to keep for yourself. Pictures must be in sharp
focus and properly exposed. If we decide to publish
your picture we will ask you to sign a waiver before
publication, which will include providing the names
of all the people in the picture. We will assume that
you have permission to publish each person's picture
when you sign the waiver.

the summer I spend a lot of time on my in-line skates.
Will the magazine cover in-line hockey?
Although
this is a fast growing branch of hockey we will not
be covering this sport right now. However based on the
